There are so many things a laptop can be use for, ranging from reading pdf files, surfing the net, playing games etc. . Acquiring a new laptop is pricy ,though you can get a  used one at an affordable price. In this post I'm going to tell you things you need to look at for when acquiring a used laptop.

1. PRICE
Every laptop have a price tag, before leaving home you have decide on how much you want to spend on buying a laptop, make a budget for it.

2. CHECK THE NEATNESS.
The fact that you're buying a use laptop doesn't mean you should go for anyone given to you, check if there's  no dent, crack and check if the hinges (the top of the laptop)  is opening and closing well.

3. CHECK THE SCREEN AND BOARD PASSWORD .
The screen is very important, without it you won't be able to use your laptop, make sure there is no white dot in it, power on the laptop and press F10(for HP laptops )  and F2 ( for other brands)  to see if there's no white dot, this will also allow you to check if there's no board password in the laptop. .

4. CONFIRM THE RAM AND HDD SIZE.
The seller will tell you the configuration of the laptop, in other to be on a saver side you need to confirm this yourself by pressing the window key +E button together, the hard drive size will show and the ram size will be shown bellow or you move the cursor to the top where you see system properties, and click to see the ram size.

5. CHECK THE SPEAKER, BATTERY AND KEYBOARD.
Press the window key + E together, scroll to the left and side and click on music, when it begins to play, listen to the sound coming out from the speakers. Take the laptop closer to your ear to make sure none of them are burst. . To check the keyboard, click on the window key, type notepad  and click on it, use it to test all the keys on the keyboard by pressing them one by one, and make sure they are all working, tell the seller to connect in the charger, drag the cursor to the battery icon on the bottom right hand corner of the laptop, make sure you see PLUG IN CHARGING ,anything other than that, ask for a replacement. Then remove the charger and watch the way the battery drops, if it drop faster ask for a replacement. Note : If at 100% and you get anything less than 2hours, then the battery is bad.

6. CHECK THE CAMERA.
Some laptop comes with camera, but don't work even if you install youcam, to check if there is camera, click on window key +E, click on system properties, at the top left hand side, click on device manager, and check if there is imaging device, if you don't see it, then it doesn't have camera .

 7.TEST THE DVD ROM.
Though some laptops don't come with DVD rom , in case the one you want to buy happens to have one, then you have to check if it's working perfectly. It's advice able you use a DVD disc to test instead of a CD this, if it's too slow or doesn't detect it after pressing CTR + E, tell the seller to change it.

Bonus point : Always ask for original charger, some sellers will sell laptop with fake charger that will spoil the laptop, and make sure you charge with stabilizer to regulate the current. . .

CONCLUSION
Buying a used laptop is easy as long as you follow the tips I post, be confident when talking with the seller and don't be afraid to negotiate with him/her.
