Update:Etisalat Nigeria confirm change of name to 9mobileNg

Etisalat Nigeria is changing its name to 9mobile, this is coming after  Mubadala Group,the major investors pulled out due to the incurred by the network. 

The telecom company is yet to unveil it New brand name to the public, though had earlier inform it customers  that a of brand name won't affect it operations. 

A board was set up to handle the transition of the company,  and  Boye Olusanya, former deputy managing director of Celtel Nigeria was appointed as the new CEO of Etisalat Nigeria to supervise the transition. 

Etisalat Nigeria has 20 million subscribers, making it the country’s number four mobile operator with a 14 percent market share. Our mandate is to make sure the business runs as profitably as it can. What is most important now is to … ensure that the business runs and meets its obligations,”  chief executive officer,  Boye Olusanya said on Tuesday. 

He also added that, the telecom company is focused on getting the group back on track.

The NCC and CBN came to the rescue of the network company, they also aid the transition of the telecom operator with over 21 million users.

Recession : Etisalat increases monthly data plans price

Etisalat Nigeria have increased the price of their data plans, this comes as surprise to others. 

When  some network providers are competing among themselves to give their subscribers affordable data plans, Etisalat is doing the opposite, I guess the current economy situation of the country has really affect their productivity. 

Before the current increase in price,the data plans where cap at:

1. 1.5GB cost N1000,

2. 3.5GB cost N2,000,

3. 5GB cost N6,500,

4. 8GB cost N8000 and

5. 10GB cost N10,000

Now, Etisalat newly increase their monthly data plans cap to :

1GB, is now N1000
1.5GB, is now N1200
1GB + 500MB night plan, is now N1000
2.5GB, is now N2000
3.5GB, is now N2500

2GB + 1.5GB night, is now N2000

The recent development is not going well with subscribers as most users of the network have decide to boycott the ISP, if you're looking for affordable data plans , you can also check out Glo data plans.

Though a lot of people do complain about their slow network, but I must tell you Glo is really improving, I guess this will be as a result of the launch of their 4G LTE  network.

Etisalat launches 4G LTE network in Nigeria

Etisalat have finally joined the league's of 4G LTE network providers in Nigeria, this is coming after some days Glo launches their 4G LTE network making Airtel the only ISP that hasn't left out. 

There was an uproar between Etisalat and MTN some months back due to the purchase of visafone, which made MTN to be the first ISP to lauch it 4G LTE network. 

However, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) have change the 1800Mhz spectrum to make it possible for ISP to lauch their 4G LTE network without owning a 4G spetrum. 

If you're an Etisalat subscriber, you must have already noticed the strong network connection in your area, that's if you're in Lagos because the 4G  network coverage is only available in some part of Lagos unlike Glo 4G LTE network that is available in 9 cities,though the telcom providers have promise to expand it coverage to all state soon. 

Unlike other ISP's, you don't need to activate your etisalat SIM to start using the 4G LTE network as all Etisalat sim cards are Universal subscriber Identity Module,apart from this Etisalat 4G support other older 4G smartphone, which means there's no need to worry if your phone is not compatible.

Etisalat Unveil Evening, Weekend Data Plan : 2GB For N1000, 5GB For N2,000

Just after the introduction of 1GB for #200 night Plan, Etisalat Nigeria is out with another cool data Plan for it subscribers. 

The data plan is tag "evening data plan" as it only allow it users access to the internet from 7PM to 6:59PM everyday but free access on the whole day on weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

The new data plans is available in two options, you can select the 2GB for #1000 evening and weekend plan or go for the the bigger option of 5GB for #2000 with free 100MB to  chat on  whatsapp for a 1month period.
