How to recover your deleted test message on any Android phone

If you've ever deleted an important message ,you'd know how painful it is, most of the  time it's impossible to get back this message as Android  uses TRIM on the internal storage which  overwrite data when deleted.

If you never want to lose your message again, whether by switching to a new device or by mistake ,then stick to this page and read it allthrough.

How to back up your sms

In other to back up and restore your message, you need to download SMS Backup & Restore by Carbonite on play store. 

Before I proceed,note that the Add-on for SMS Backup & Restore, doesn't appear in the list of apps in your phone launcher as it is used by the Add-on for SMS Backup & Restore app on your phone and open in settings>>backup and reset.


1. After downloading and installing the app, click on "open"

2. Click on "backup"

3. You can choose the defualt file path or choose a custom folder if you want to save your backup to SD card or a particular folder in your phone. 

4. Click on the check box next to the text message you want to backup, you decide to select the important once.

5. You can select all or choose click on a particular box close to the things you want to backup. 

6. Click on local backup only or local backup and Upload ,this will bring out option to upload to google drive, drop box or to email. 
To upload your backup, you'll have to download Add-on for SMS Backup & Restore.

7. Click on OK after selecting your preferd option. 

8. You message will automatically backup to wherever you selected. 

Note that you will get a warning telling you that you risk the chance of losing your backup if you lost or damage your device when you backup locally.

How to restore your SMS message 

You can also restore your messages after backup,on a new device or same device whenever you need it. 

1. Open the app and click "restore"

2. Click on the check box of the backup you want to restore. 

3.  Click on restore.

4. Click on OK and you will get a msg telling to set the app as default messaging app. 

5. Accept by clicking on yes and app will start the restoring process. Close the app when the process is complet


You can now backup and restore your SMS  message at ease without worrying about losing them, if you've backup your message to cloud,you can restore them back using the same process. 
SMS message can be restored to any Android device since data is stored in XML.
